The Board of County Commissioners proclaimed June 15, 2018, as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day to acknowledge the aging and vulnerable adults in our community who need protection and advocacy.
It is estimated that for every one report of elder abuse, there are up to 27 cases that go unreported. There were 100 reports of elder abuse last month in Weld County alone, which means there are potentially 2700 unreported cases in our county of at-risk adults being physically abused, financially exploited or neglected.
Anyone concerned about the safety and well-being of any at-risk adult in Weld County is encouraged to report to law enforcement or to the Weld County Adult Protection Hotline at (970) 346-7676. If you feel that someone is in immediate danger, please call 911.
